Frequently Asked Questions

How often should the scrubs be used?

This is completely depends on your skin type. If you have extremely dry skin, you will probably see the best results by exfoliating 2-3 times a week. Individuals with sensitive skin should opt for once a week exfoliations and use scrubs with more gentle ingredients. If your skin type is in between the two, see how your skin handles exfoliating by starting off with once a week and going from there. Most skin types will be ok with once or twice a week.

Can the scrubs be used on sensitive skin?

As stated in the previous question, let your skin be the judge. It is recommended that you perform patch tests on your skin to see how your skin reacts if you have sensitive skin. Exfoliating on sensitive skin should not be done as frequently as other skin types, Alluring Essential uses mostly organic ingredients. However, some of the ingredients such as the lemon in our Lemon Pound Cake Sugar Scrub is acidic and may have an effect on some sensitive skin types.

What is the shelf-life of the scrubs?

All of our scrubs are made fresh to order with all natural ingredients. Since we do not use added chemicals, it is recommended to use the scrubs right away while they are fresh. All sugar scrubs usually last between 6-12 months. Here are some tips to keep your scrubs fresh:

  • Close the jars tightly after each use.

  • Over time, scrubs will naturally separate, some more than others, and the oil will sink to the bottom (this is ok!). Just stir the scrub until it mixes back up

  • To keep scrubs fresh, scoop out the desired amount and take that into the shower with you. If water gets into your scrub, it will change its original state.

  • If your scrub hardens, use a spoon to break it up. Once it touches your wet skin in the shower, it will soften.

What if my scrubs turn hard on the top?

Sometimes, depending on the oil to sugar ratio, the oils may seep to the bottom of the jars. This is perfectly fine and normal.

  • If your scrub hardens, use a spoon to break it up. Once it touches your wet skin in the shower, it will soften.
